about this print finisher role

As a full-time print finisher at Holywell Press you will mainly work in our Bindery, turning printed sheets into everything from brochures to books. Tasks will vary and include operating machines to trim, fold, collate and bind paper to create finished products, and packing these ready to be delivered to customers. You may also be required to deliver some local jobs.

key responsibilities

  • Set up machines to cut, fold and bind printed sheets of paper

  • Feed and take paper out of machines and monitor the quality of output as they run

  • Adjust machines to maintain precise results, escalating issues to other members of the production team, where required

  • Maintain machinery and ensure workspace is clean and tidy at the end of production runs

  • Remove wastepaper from machines and move to recycling bins

  • Receive paper and other goods in, using pallet trucks and forklift to move and store materials within the factory

  • Prepare and pack finished products into boxes and onto pallets for delivery

  • When required, deliver jobs to customer sites using company vehicles

  • Attend production meetings to understand work priorities.

is this role right for you?

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working as a print finisher and using programmable machinery, such as a guillotine, folding machine and saddle stitching line. You take a steady and methodical approach to work, and have a good eye for detail.

An interest in mechanics and how machinery works would be an advantage, as is a full UK driving licence.

This is a physically active role and you'll need to be able to stand for long periods. You'll be working as part of our Production Team but will be undertaking work on your own most of the time. You should be able to carry out simple addition and multiplication to keep on top of your work.

benefits

  • 25 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays

  • Nest pension

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am - 4pm (37.5 hours per week). Some adjustment to hours may be possible to accommodate those requiring flexibility.
