Holywell design and produce an animated greetings card for Saïd Business School

At the end of November we were approached by the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School to make an animated version of a greetings card they'd had printed. The card featured a snowflake composed of the icons they use to symbolise the School's core values. The aim was to make this element into some form of animated greetings.

Initially we created a video storyboard featuring an animated version of the School's logo that would morph into the festive values snowflake before floating off to join a flurry of other snowflakes, gradually creating a landscape of snow and revealing the individual core value icons. This would then fade to wish the viewer all the best for the festive season.

Saïd requested that the plain reversed out logo be used rather than the copper one and that some twinkling stars be added to the video and on the basis of these suggestions a first rough cut was put together.

The feeling was that the values did not stand out enough from the snow so they were initially made to look more crystaline.

A second cut was put together without the animated logo. However, the consensus at Saïd was that the scene involving the 'values' was distracting from the message of the video and added too much to the length so it was dropped in favour of the words 'best wishes' appearing to be formed from snow.
