The book was designed in Holywell’s design studio. Considerable work was done to improve the images, many of which were submitted by the recipe authors, in order to make the recipes as appetising as possible. A script font was chosen for headings and the recipe titles to create a friendly, personal feel to the recipes. Sketchy icons were also used for the recipe information. A serif font was chosen for the recipe instructions and stories for ease of reading and a blue colour and italics was used for the stories to suggest journal entries.
The book is litho-printed on a satin stock to help lift the images and the paperback cover includes generous flaps, which make the book feel more substantial and can also be used as bookmarks. It is sewn bound to ensure that it can withstand being repeatedly pressed flat.
