The Oxford Vaccine Group marked its 30th anniversary in 2024 with a prestigious symposium and dinner. Holywell Press designed and printed a wide range of materials to facilitate and celebrate the event.

The Oxford Vaccine Group has been at the forefront of vaccine development since 1994, helping to fight diseases of major global importance through research and education. It conducts studies of new and improved vaccines for adults and children from its base in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford.

printing for large events

To mark its 30th year battling deadly diseases, The Oxford Vaccine Group held a one-day symposium with 175 attendees and a celebratory dinner for 275 guests.

Laura Borg, Communications Lead at the University of Oxford’s Paediatrics Department was tasked with organising both events and soon compiled a comprehensive list of materials she needed to get designed and printed, including:

  • Set graphics
  • Event signage
  • Delegate badges
  • Programmes
  • Branded pens
  • Menus
  • Table plans
  • Table talkers
  • Souvenir books
  • Mounted photographic prints
  • Gift tags

"I had a long list of printed brochures and display materials to design, print and deliver in a short space of time. They had to look and feel high end, without the high-end price tag, and be a worthy keepsake for guests."

Laura Borg, Communications Lead
Department of Paediatrics, University of Oxford

when print quality is key

Laura found Holywell Press through a Google search for an Oxford-based designer and printer. She was invited in to talk about her requirements and see examples of previous work.

By talking through her options, Holywell were able to advise on the format of materials and best paper quality to achieve the desired high-end finishes.

Collaboration and responsiveness were key to getting Laura the right results for her event. Holywell’s central Oxford location enabled her to visit the studio to talk through designs, instead of an endless back-and-forth over email. It also allowed for quick turnaround and delivery of several last minute items.

“Holywell produced dummies for each of the items which were great to be able to share with the rest of my team.”

Laura Borg

As a follow up to the symposium, Laura is now working on a 48 page report which she hopes to get designed and printed in the coming weeks.

printing that doesn't cost the earth

The Department of Paediatrics takes environmental sustainability very seriously and were pleased that the paper used to create their event materials contributed to the Woodland Trust’s tree planting programme. The Carbon Capture logo was included on all printed communications to acknowledge their focus on sustainable printing.

The Carbon Capture paper programme is operated by Premier Paper through the Woodland Trust as part of the UK Government’s Woodland Carbon Scheme.

For every tonne of paper we buy, money is donated directly to the Woodland Trust to enable the creation and conservation of new native woodland. The carbon dioxide absorbed by these trees has been calculated by DEFRA to offset the CO2 released through the manufacture, transportation, and storage of the paper.
