“Once again, Holywell has printed our school art catalogues beautifully. They look fantastic and have been wonderfully received.”

Adam Hahn, St Edward's School

which printing is best for your book?

Your choice of digital or litho book printing will depend on a variety of factors. Digital printing is a cost-effective option for small print runs or text-heavy books, while litho printing is better for larger print runs or books where images are a key feature.

All our printing is done inhouse, so you can be as closely involved in your book’s production as you want to be. Holywell customers are always welcome to visit our factory in Oxford to see their jobs on press. Unlike online book printers, we work closely with you at every step, so you get a book that looks amazing from cover to cover.

“Working with Holywell was an entirely constructive process. I was able to take inspiration from other books they had produced to narrow down options for the high-quality finish I wanted.”

James Darley

book binding choices

Whatever type of book you want to produce, it's a good idea to start thinking about the book design and format early on. If you’re not sure what format is best for your book, let us explain the options and cost implications of the book size, paper choice, page design, print finishing, and book binding.

There are hundreds of ways to bind your book and book binding is often a balance between aesthetics, practicality and budget. Typically a book’s pages can be saddle stitched, perfect bound with glue, or thread sewn, before being produced as paperback or hardback books. Read our guide to binding to discover the pros and cons of different book binding aproaches.

“Our bi-annual reports live on people’s shelves for a long time, and they get well used. We want them to last, so the printing and binding quality is paramount.”

David Mobbs, Head of Marketing, SFA (Oxford)
